Not Your Average Painting Company
We're a veteran-owned painting company in Chadds Ford that treats your home with the same respect, precision, and pride we learned in service. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just honest craftsmanship.
Veteran-Owned
Military discipline meets paintbrush precision. We show up on time, respect your home, and finish what we start.
Chester County Roots
Born and raised in Chadds Ford. We understand historic homes, local architecture, and the people who live here.
No Subcontractors
When you hire Fox & Fern, you get Fox & Fern. Our crew. Our standards. Our responsibility. Every time.
Obsessed with Quality
We use Renner coatings, Aquafill grain filling, and techniques most painters skip. Because mediocre isn't in our DNA.
Meet Dominic
Started painting at 14. Served in the Army. Built a business in Texas. Came home when family needed me most.
I'm Dominic Lomonaco, and painting has been in my blood since I was 14 years old. While most kids were playing video games, I was spending summers working for my neighbor's property management company, turning over apartments in Delaware County. Let's just say I learned real quick that speed matters—but quality matters more.
After graduating from Monsignor Bonner High School, I joined the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division. Military service taught me discipline, attention to detail, and how to show up even when you don't feel like it. Those lessons stuck with me when I started Fox & Fern Painting.
I operated Fox & Fern in The Woodlands, Texas (just outside Houston) for three years. Built a solid reputation. Had steady work. Life was good. Then my father passed away, and the choice was easy—family comes first. We packed up, moved home, and now I'm back where I started, raising two daughters with my wife (who's a saint for working in childcare AND dealing with me).
When I'm not obsessing over paint finishes or teaching my daughters that "good enough" isn't a thing, you'll find me on the water chasing largemouth bass. Saltwater fishing too, but there's something about bass fishing that just hits different. Maybe it's the patience required. Maybe it's the precision. Maybe I just like fish that put up a fight.
Seven years of professional painting experience. Two young daughters exactly two years apart (because apparently we're gluttons for punishment). One wife who keeps us all sane. And a business built on the simple idea that if you're going to do something, do it right the first time.
The Journey
Age 14 - The Beginning
Started painting apartment turnovers. Learned the hard way that corners matter.
82nd Airborne Division
Served my country. Learned discipline beats talent every time.
Texas Years
Built Fox & Fern in The Woodlands. Traded Yuengling for Shiner Bock. Still preferred Yuengling.
Coming Home
Brought the business back to Chester County. Helping raise my sisters. Raising my own girls. Full circle.
It's Not Just Words. It's What Keeps Me Up at Night.
I have ADHD. Most of my life, that's been a problem. Can't focus in meetings. Get bored easily. Start ten projects, finish three. You know the deal.
But here's the thing about ADHD that nobody tells you: when you find something that hooks your brain, you don't just focus—you obsess.
I'll stay on a job site an extra hour fixing a detail most people won't even notice. I'll redo sections that are "good enough" because good enough makes my brain itch. I'll lose sleep thinking about whether a client is happy with their color choice or if we could've done something better.
This isn't marketing copy. This is genuinely how my brain works. I cannot leave a job unfinished. I cannot walk away knowing something could've been done better. I cannot stop thinking about your project until you're completely satisfied.
Is it healthy? Probably not. Does it drive my wife crazy? Absolutely. But is it the reason Fox & Fern delivers work that other painters can't match? 100%.
Every. Single. Detail.
I see things other painters miss. Not because I'm special—because my brain won't let me NOT see them. That crooked line? Haunts me. That texture inconsistency? Can't unsee it.
I Actually Answer My Phone
You know how contractors ghost you? Yeah, I can't do that. Unanswered calls make me anxious. Unresolved questions keep me up. You'll get a response—probably faster than you want.
Hyperfocus Mode Activated
When I'm on your job, nothing else exists. I'm not thinking about the next project or cutting corners to save time. I'm locked in. Your walls, your cabinets, your trim—that's my whole world until it's perfect.
It Has to Be Right
Not "pretty good." Not "close enough." RIGHT. If I wouldn't be proud to show my daughters that work, it's not leaving my hands. Simple as that.
"Most people see ADHD as a weakness. I see it as the only reason I'm this good at what I do."
— Dominic, probably overthinking this section right now
We're Not for Everyone
If you're hunting for the cheapest quote or the fastest turnaround, we're probably not your guys. But if you want to actually enjoy the process and trust the people in your home? Keep reading.
What We're NOT
We're Not The Cheapest
There's always someone willing to undercut our price. They'll skip the prep, use builder-grade materials, and disappear when problems show up. We charge what quality actually costs.
We're Not The Fastest
We could rush your job and move to the next one. But grain filling, proper sanding, multiple primer coats—that stuff takes time. You can have it fast, or you can have it right. Pick one.
We're Not Using Subcontractors
Ever hire a company and get Bob's cousin's friend who learned to paint last Tuesday? Yeah, that's not happening here. Our crew. Our standards. Period.
We're Not Ghosting You
You know that contractor who stops answering calls? Not us. My ADHD won't let me leave you hanging. You'll hear from me—probably more than you want.
What We ARE
Trustworthy
You're letting people into your home. That's a big deal. We treat your space with respect, show up when we say we will, and do exactly what we promised. Old-fashioned? Maybe. But it works.
Making This Fun
Most people dread having contractors over. We get it. That's why we actually communicate, keep the site clean, and don't make you regret hiring us. Painting doesn't have to suck.
Obsessed with Details
It's not just about getting paint on walls. It's about straight lines, smooth finishes, and work that looks incredible five years from now. We're perfectionists. Your home benefits.
Standing Behind Our Work
2-year interior warranty. 3-year exterior warranty. If our work fails, we fix it. No fine print. No excuses. We warranty it this long because we know it'll last.
You deserve to know exactly who's in your home and what you're paying for. No bait-and-switch. No surprises. Just honest work from people you can trust.
— That's the Fox & Fern difference
Think We Might Vibe Together?
If you made it this far, you either really like reading about paint (weird, but I respect it) or you're actually considering working with us. Either way, let's talk.
Fair warning: I'll probably answer the phone myself. I'll probably talk too much about grain filling. And I'll definitely make sure you're happy with every single detail. If that sounds exhausting, we're probably not a good fit. If that sounds refreshing? Let's go.
No pressure. No hard sell. Just an honest conversation about whether Fox & Fern is the right fit for your project. And if we're not? I'll tell you that too.
